Knit Night

Every Wednesday from 5-8pm (or in the summer, 9!) is our all-small-crafts-friendly Knit Night! Just show up, on your own or with friends. Bring your current project (knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, sewing, any ‘small-footprint’ crafting) or we can set you up with a new one! All are welcome. Patronize our wine bar during your visit to help sustain our small business!

Trivia Night

Generally at 7pm on every second and fourth Thursday of the month! We’re on a pause but expect to announce new dates soon (later in 2024?)!

Fundraising and Craftalongs

We received yarn stash from a few Yarn Farm Friends during S&W week (thank you!), and we donated the bulk of that yarn on 10/30/23 to People’s Place. We kept some of it, and you are welcome to come by for free yarn to use for charity knitting, while supplies last! Make hats, scarves, blankets and the like and donate them directly or bring them to YFK and we are happy to donate them for you. We are happy to take more yarn donations anytime and will continue to report back on how they are used and when they are available for Yarn Farm Friends to use for charity knitting.

Thank you to our wine bar patrons at our Feb. 8 (2023) Knit Night! We raised $150 and donated this equally between Oxfam America and Save The Children for their earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.

In early 2023, YFK and Galler Yarns together introduced Galler’s new yarn, Wool You Be My Baby in a deep ruby color, Valentine! As part of this new yarn launch we donated 25% of this yarn’s sales through 6/30/23 to Save a Child’s Heart, with a donation of $70 on July 4, 2023. Thank you shoppers! At YFK, we’ve used two skeins with two strands held together to make the cozy Sophie Shawl by PetiteKnit that has captivated knitters. Join us! We still have skeins of this yarn in stock, though the fundraiser is over.

Teachers: Our YFK team teaches classes as do guest teachers from near and far. Learn about all of them on our Teachers page.

Fee(s): The cost of classes will generally be the class fee + cost of materials (if required). If you need materials for your class, we welcome you to come at least 10 min before the start time and/or in the days prior to your class during shop hours to pick out/up your materials.

Registration: sign up and pay in person at the shop, or register online here. Your payment confirms your registration. If we don’t meet the minimum number of students, we will refund your registration in full and advise you of this by the day before the scheduled class. You can also show up without pre-registering and if we have space and the class hasn’t started in earnest yet (instructor decides this) you may join. First come, first served. If we don’t have registered students by 1-3 days before a class, we may cancel the class. Registering in advance helps us with understanding customers’ interest in a topic and with our shop planning and is very appreciated!

Cancellation Policy: Full refund less credit card processing fee (effective 4/11/23) is provided for any cancellation up to one week before the class date. Credit towards another class is provided for any cancellation made from six days through the day before the class date. No credit or refunds issued after this time, including no-shows on the day-of. If the class is cancelled by us because we have not met the stated minimum number of students, you will receive a full refund.

Questions: Call us during shop hours at 845-514-2693 or email hello [at] yarnfarmkingston.com.

  • multicolored embroidery sampler in hoop

    Hand Embroidery!

Sewing is our jam! For a yarn shop we’re pretty bananas about embroidery of all types!

Check our calendar for upcoming hand embroidery classes. A popular class is our Color with Hand Embroidery, where you learn basic stitches and then get started stitching a darling design in an embroidery hoop. We recommend Trailhead Yarns Unkits and hand-dyed Tencel embroidery floss for this and we have a range of design panels and floss colors to choose from.

We also offer Hand Embroidery 101 from time to time where we spend even more time covering a range of foundational stitches. Look for the class that suits and sign up today! Or email us to share class ideas that you’d like to see.

Or come by for sashiko materials – fabric, thread and a plate thimble – and try this age-old, awesome approach to stitching, where the rhythm and flow of your stitching is what is important.
