Welcome to Yarn Farm Kingston's Sheep and Wool 2025 Page!
A week of programming from Wed-Mon, Oct 15-20, 2025
Yarn Farm Kingston is thrilled to welcome NYS Sheep and Wool Festival attendees to our yarn shop and wine bar!
Yarn Farm Kingston is a creative community space for fiber artists and a wine bar welcoming to all.
We sell a thoughtfully curated selection of beautiful, high-quality materials and products for fiber artists with an emphasis on small batch or locally produced yarn, fiber, fabric and accessories.
We offer delectable wines and local craft beer paired with simple fare. Everything we offer we love, and we offer with love.
We promote inspiration and inclusivity at our waterfront shop in Kingston, a hub of NY’s Hudson Valley.
As always for Sheep and Wool Festival Week, we propose a series of events that are free and fun!
Meet new fiber friends in our shop and wine bar, and throughout the Kingston Waterfront neighborhood! Every October at this time, Jocelyn’s downtime with fiber friends during the S&W weekend was as joyful and treasured as her time at the Fairgrounds. We’re aiming to create this cozy, fiber-indulgent feeling at our shop, bar, sidewalk cafe and throughout the Waterfront. We scheduled our programming from Wed-Mon, or pre- and post-NYS S&W Festival weekend, since many people come for a long weekend. Some of you may want to swing by YFK on your way home from the Festival on Monday (that’s you vendors)!

Meet up with Andrea and Norah Gaughan
Are you participating in the Gaughan-Along KAL? Did you test knit Réalta or Morahan? Would you like to see Andrea and Norah and their new designs in person? Please come on by and say Hello.
Andrea and Norah have been exploring a question that's been nagging them both – are they related? They met, compared family trees and decided to have fun with it, dreaming up the Gaughan-Along. They each designed a sweater with shared origins and steeped in Irish heritage, all resulting in two new and unique designs.
Stop by to say Hello to Andrea and Norah Gaughan at Yarn Farm Kingston, see these lovely designs in person, and show or shop for your Gaughan-Along project!
Wednesday, October 15 through Sunday, October 19

We will offer multiple beer, wine, and hard cider tastings Wednesday through Sunday for our Yarn Farm Friends 21 years or older.

Welcome Laine, one more time!
If you’re like us, you never want Sheep & Wool weekend to end! Join us for a relaxed post-festival gathering at Yarn Farm Kingston. We’re thrilled to welcome back Jonna Helin and the Laine Team — perfect if you missed them on Saturday night, or if you just can’t get enough of our Finnish friends!
Laine will be sharing beautiful samples made with Laine x Novita, a brand-new yarn line designed by Jonna. Browse the collection, get ideas for your own sweater project, and let us help you find the perfect yarn to cast on.
Weather permitting, you can unwind from the weekend on our Kingston Waterfront sidewalk café — enjoy a little nibble, start your new project, and soak in the cozy post-festival atmosphere.
S&W Week Raffle
What’s sad about the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival aka Rhinebeck?
When it’s over!
Our solution to sustain the joy a bit longer is to hold a week-long raffle! We’ve reached out to our treasured makers and yarn company partners and have received a joyful batch of prizes to raffle off! (Thank you sponsors!!!)
Come by our yarn shop and wine bar. We will be giving out one raffle ticket per person per day, no purchase necessary, from Oct 15-20. And you’ll get another raffle ticket for making a purchase!
We’ll draw and contact the winners of our raffle beginning Wednesday evening 10/22. We’ll pick a winner each day or two in the days after the S&W Festival weekend. Maybe one of the winners will be you!
Local? Come by to pick up your prize when you can!
Visiting? We’ll ship it to you! (Free in the continental US.)
About
Yarn Farm Kingston offers a curated selection of yarn, fiber, fabric, tools, accessories and kits for those who say and know, “I can make that!” with particular emphasis on locally sourced and small batch, hard-to-find, must-see-in-person goods. Items like farm to skein fine wool yarn, a complete farm product made entirely on site at Buckwheat Bridge Farm in Elizaville; spindles and bowls by Hudson Valley Handspinning; continous weaving looms and hand turned yarn bowls by Hudson Valley Wooden Bowls; and hand dyed yarn from Jill Draper! This year we’ve added to our offerings and are now a dealer of both Ashford and Schacht Spindle Co. looms, wheels and accessories.
At YFK, founder and owner Jocelyn Songco proposes to delight fiber artists — knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, and sewers — as well as non-crafters aka “curious creatives”. Since the first year we opened we have consistently won Chronogram Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards: Best Yarn Shop (2023, 2024 and 2025), 2nd Best Charcuterie Board (2023 and 2025), Best Classes / Workshops (2025) and Best Wine Bar (2025)!
Our wine bar offers delectable and reasonably priced wines, local craft beer and hard cider, locally blended tea, sodas and more. Todd is our chef and our bar manager and he aims to please, and for everyone to feel right at home! Along with crowd pleasing cheese and charcuterie boards we also offer simple fare. Our menu changes weekly and we typically offer soup, sandwiches, and sweets, and a vegan dish every week or so.
Check out this article on YFK in Chronogram Magazine! We also love this oldie-but-goodie interview with Indie Untangled in 2022. We’ve been a sponsor of Indie Untangled’s Rhinebeck event since we opened as a pop up shop in 2022, and this is year four!
Directions and Parking
Street parking: pay meters with coins or the Flowbird app (excluding Sundays, holidays and other days after 6pm). Free parking in the municipal lot on Rondout Landing at the end of Broadway (under the bridge) and also by the Trolley Museum (short walk).
The Kingston Waterfront where YFK is located is a destination for locals and tourists alike with the above parking, plus some parking on residential streets near the shop. (Please read all signs when you park to be sure you’re ok to park there!) That said, it’s not the Fairgrounds so, naturally, will not have the extent of parking that the Festival does. Consider carpooling when you come to visit us!
Distances

Other fun activities while you’re in town
Though we wonder, who has time for anything unrelated to sheep and wool, we also accept that some fiber fanatics may come with partners and families who may want to explore. Fair enough! Suggestions in no particular order: Sojourner Truth State Park, Kingston Point Rail Trail (part of the Empire State Trail, including Kingston Point Beach and a clear view of the Rondout Lighthouse), and Poets’ Walk Park (across the river) for easy-to-moderate outdoor strolls.
For shopping, our Kingston Waterfront neighborhood has lovely mom and pop shops and eateries. Shop at our neighbors’ and tell them we sent you!
FAQ
A yarn shop? And a wine bar? How does this work?
In our shop and wine bar we sell yarn and other materials and tools for crafting, and we have an L-shaped bar plus an outdoor sidewalk cafe (in season, and yes it is still in season) where you can enjoy food and drinks. You can patronize one, or the other, or both!
Do you have food? Non-alcoholic beverages?
Indeed we do! See our brief About section above and also our Wine Bar page. Food is served from 3pm on weekdays and from 12pm on weekends.
How do I make a reservation for your wine bar?
Great question! Short answer: Seating is first-come, first-served, meaning no reservations. Long answer: During non-Rhinebeck times we are a local neighborhood joint with service that is first-come, first-served, and this works well, particularly since we don’t have the standard staffing of a full-service restaurant or bar like a host/hostess or multiple servers. We have seating for 9 along our L-shaped bar, and on Knit Night we make space for about a dozen more by clearing our front tables of retail goods, and our sidewalk cafe has space for a dozen plus more. As well, we are on the Kingston Waterfront with heaps of benches and outdoor spots to sit and knit so provided the weather is accommodating, it is definitely an option to grab a snack from us and pick a seat with a waterfront view! In short, come on by and we believe there’ll be something for you!
Do you ship?
Yes, always! Specifically, we’ll charge a flat fee of $10 for any purchases from Wed-Mon, Oct 15-20 shipping within the continental US. International shipping will be at cost and we’ll email you an invoice for any difference in shipping cost over the initial $10 we’ll charge you at time of purchase. We will begin to ship packages starting Wed Oct 22.
I bought yarn or a kit that comes with a free pattern. Where is it?
Look for it on this page. Not there? Please email us with your pattern request and remind us of what you purchased and we’ll send it right out to you!
Could you wind my skein?
Ordinarily, yes, with pleasure! It’s a complimentary service we offer our customers. However, the week of S&W we regret that we will not be able to wind skeins. If you’re local, you can (as always) come back any time after the festival weekend with the skeins you’ve bought from us and we’ll wind them for you. If you’re visiting, we’re happy to wind them and ship them to you for our flat $10 shipping fee, with no charge for winding.
Do you have an online store?
Not yet! But anything you see in the shop or on our Instagram is fair game to request to purchase by phone, email, or DM on Instagram. We can process secure sales with a Square invoice by email and send you your goodies for the actual cost of shipping. We shop around for the best shipping rates.
So you sell fiber equipment now?
Well, we have since day 1, starting with small goods like drop spindles and lap looms. Then in 2025 we became a dealer for Schacht Spindle Co. and Ashford so we can sell spinning wheels, looms and their accessories, hooray! At any time we have a few models and accessories on hand that you can check out and/or purchase and take home. For items that we don’t have in-stock, we are happy to order these for you at the company’s suggested retail prices for you to pick up at Yarn Farm when they arrive. If you’d like goods shipped to you, that’s an option too! And for purchases shipped out of state, we’re not required to charge sales tax, which can be helpful for fitting fiber equipment into your budget, as we know they are a meaningful investment. Please come by or call us to learn more.
Are you on Facebook?
While we have a Facebook page (so no one else who’s not us can take it) we can’t manage posting there well, plus Instagram, plus this webpage, plus running a yarn shop and winebar. So the best updates from us are here, especially on our Announcements box on our Home page, and on Instagram.
Where can I park?
See more info here.
Tell me more about YFK?
Happy to! Here’s our main website (vs. this short info page for S&W 2025) to learn more! More questions? Email us!
