Knit Socks with Magic Loop (Course)

  • 21 W. Strand St. Kingston US (map)

Three Saturdays in January from 10am-12pm

Have you longed to knit a pair of socks but have been too intimidated to tackle them on your own? Join us for our this intro-level Knit Socks with Magic Loop three-session course!

Socks are one of the most satisfying and portable projects to knit! But often times, we're are nervous to tackle our first pair alone.

Learn to knit socks step by step (and two at a time, if you choose) over 3 classes, while customizing your socks so you have an ideal pair you can knit again and again.

You’ll get ample support on all the trickiest parts of sock knitting including setting up magic loop and turning your first heel. This class is for intermediate knitters. Please see prerequisite skills below. There will be homework between each class.

In this 3 part, 6 hour hour workshop you will learn:

  • Magic loop knitting

  • Making a heel flap

  • Turning the heel

  • Picking up stitches

  • Shaping with decreases

  • Kitchener stitch

  • 2 at a time knitting (optional; you can choose to make one sock at a time)

Prerequisite skills: (must have recent and confident experience with the following)

  • Cast on

  • Bind off

  • Knitting in the round

  • Comfortable ribbing (knitting and purling)

  • Not required, but helpful if you have some experience with shaping using decreases (k2 tgth and SSK)

Please note, this is an intermediate knitting class class. Due to time constraints, we will not be able to teach you the above skills during class.

Due to the slow nature of knitting will not finish your socks during the duration of this class. The class is designed to tackle all the hardest parts of sock making during class. You will finish your 3 sessions with all the skills needed to complete the project on your own.
