Come join Ulster County Handspinners and Elmendorph Handspinners Guilds on Sunday May 17th from 10am-2pm in front of Yarn Farm Kingston shop for a Fleece to Shawl event led by Elmendorph Handspinners Guild.

Fleece to Shawl is a multi-step textile tradition transforming an uncarded wool fleece into a finished shawl by carding the fleece, spinning it into yarn, plying, and then weaving it into fabric. Fleece to Shawl competitions are part of county and state fairs, as well as wool festivals and have to be completed in 3 or 4 hours depending on the competition.

The Elmendorph Handspinners Guild will cover how to dress a loom, how to choose a draft, spinning methods for the warp and weft, and other topics along the stunning waterfront. Free!
