Knit Cabled Mitts (Cityscape Series)

  • 21 W. Strand St. Kingston US (map)

One class on a Fri eve in April

Promo! Register for all three Cityscape project classes and receive a $20 store credit to use after your third class.

Learn to cable or take your cabling skills to the next level while making the elegant Cityscape Mitts by Tori Yu. In this one off class we’ll cast on together and get you well on your way with these sweet Mitts. You’ll leave with all the skills you need to finish. These Mitts are part of the Cityscape collection. We’ll be knitting through it over the next few months so by the beginning of April you’ll have a gorgeous set of hat, cowl, and fingerless mitts to get you through the end of chilly spring days. You’re also welcome to join us for a single project of your choice. For a Kingston specific Cityscape Set, use Jill Drapers Kingston yarn which is the perfect weight for this project! In this 2 hour class you will learn:

  • How to set up magic loop

  • How to cable in small circumference knitting

  • How to read a pattern and follow a chart

  • Shaping

Please note due to the slow nature of knitting you will not finish this project in class, but will leave with all the skills needed to be able to finish. The class will be taught using magic loop, but if you are already confident using DPNs and would like to make them that way instead you’re welcome to!

Required Skills: This is not a learn to knit class. Please have taken our Knitting Newbies course or have equivalent skills before joining us for this project. You must already know how to:

  • Cast on

  • Knit

  • Purl

  • Bind off

  • Knit in the round!

Materials needed:

  • Ravelry Pattern (we’re happy to help you buy this in store. If you would like to bring a printed copy, please purchase and print in advance. Otherwise we’ll be working from your phone) **The designer has a discount of buy 2 get 1 free if you’re making the full set (as of Jan 28)

  • 125 Yards of DK weight yarn

  • Size US 4 circular needles with  a cable length of 36” or longer (or whatever needle size needed to make gauge) **if you are making the full set we highly recommend you use interchangeable needles for the projects.
