YFK is thrilled to welcome basketmaker Wendy Jensen to our yarn shop!
Using rattan, this useful rectangular basket is woven with a “filled” plaited base. You will weave and shape the sides of your basket with a start and stop weaving technique. You will use varying sizes of material to create a woven pattern, and also learn rim fitting, scarfing and lashing. You’ll finish your basket with two leather handles long enough to be used over the shoulder. Carry-all size (approx): 16” long x 10” high x 6” wide.
This basket weaving workshop is appropriate for all levels of weavers, beginner to more experienced. All materials and tools will be provided.
Workshop Fee: $115/student. Your payment confirms your spot. If the class is full, please call or email us to join the waitlist.
Materials Fee: $55/student, payable to Wendy by cash or check on the day of the class.
The total cost for this workshop is $170.
Workshop size is limited to 8 students, with a minimum of 6
You will have a break for lunch mid-way through the class. Lunch is not included in the Workshop Fee. You are welcome to order from our wine bar or stroll the Kingston Waterfront and grab a bite.
As of 4/1/23, our 6/10 class is sold out. We may offer the same workshop on Friday, June 9 if we have enough students (min 6, max 8). Email or call us either to express interest in Friday’s class (6/9) and/or to join the waitlist for Saturday’s class (6/10).
