Three Thursday evenings in April (starting on Apr 16)
All sessions start at 5:30pm but duration for each session varies as follows: Apr 16, 5:30-7:30pm; Apr 23, 5:30-6:30pm; and Apr 30, 5:30-8:30pm.
Please do not register if you can not attend all three sessions for the times scheduled.
Have you longed to knit a pair of socks but have been too intimidated to tackle them on your own? Join us for our Intro to Sock Knitting class! We’ll being making a Shorty pair of socks, perfect for spring and summer! Socks are one of the most satisfying and portable projects to knit, but often times, we're are nervous to tackle our first pair alone. Learn to knit socks step by step (and two at a time, if you choose) over 3 classes, while customizing your socks so you have an ideal pair you can knit again and again. You’ll get ample support on all the trickiest parts of sock knitting including setting up magic loop and turning your first heel. This class is for intermediate knitters. Please see prerequisite skills below. There will be homework between each class.
In this 3 part, six hour workshop you will learn:
Magic Loop knitting
2 at a time knitting (optional)
Making a heel flap
Turning the heel
Picking up stitches
Shaping with decreases
Stripes and color changes (optional)
Kitchener stitch
Prerequisite skills: (must have recent and confident experience with the following)
Cast on
Bind off
Knitting in the round
Comfortable ribbing (knitting and purling)
Not required, but helpful if you have some experience with shaping using decreases (k2 tgth and SSK)
Please note, this is an intermediate knitting class class. Due to time constraints, we will not be able to teach you the above skills during class. Due to the slow nature of knitting will not finish your socks during the duration of this class. The class is designed to tackle all the hardest parts of sock making during class. You will finish your 3 sessions with all the skills needed to complete the project on your own.

Class fee $150 which includes 1 skein of your choosing of Heritage Sock Yarn (if doing 2 at a time socks, have your yarn wound into 2 balls)
Materials needed:
Weekend Shorty Socks by Summer Lee (please have a printed copy for class or have the pattern accessible to you on a device of your choosing)
1 pair of size US 1 circular needles with a 40”+ cable (Chiaogoo needles recommend)
Locking stitch markers
Optional Materials:
Second skein of sock yarn if they would like the heel and toe to be a contrasting color to the foot
Sock blockers! (Highly recommended)
