Beyond Beginner Knitting September Course

  • 21 W. Strand St. Kingston US (map)

Three Thursdays in Sept from 6:45-7:45

In this three-session course (each session is one hour long) you’ll build on what you learned in the beginner knitting class or course you’ve previously taken. It is geared towards new knitters who can cast on, knit and purl, and bind off independently, but who do not know how to read or follow a pattern. We will not review the basics (cast on, knit, purl, bind off) so please be sure you know how to do these things before signing up. As well, if you are very comfortably knitting beyond the basics already, this class is not for you. Consider one of our project-based classes that we will also have at the shop targeting advanced beginner/intermediate knitters.

In this Beyond Beginner Knitting Course you’ll learn how to read and follow a simple pattern and how to fix common mistakes. You’ll experiment with knitting different kinds of yarn and using different knitting tools.

Course fee of $100 includes 1 skein of 100% merino wool and 1 set of knitters tools (cable needle, stitch holder, tapestry needles, stitch markers, row counter, handi-tool and Knit Chek). It does not include knitting needles. Please bring a pair of knitting needles suitable for medium-weight yarn (sizes 7, 8 or 9), either straight points or circular.

Teacher: Jocelyn Songco

During your course, you may shop with a 10% discount on full-price items (some limited items are excluded from this discount) on the dates your class meets.

Minimum 2 people to confirm the class, maximum of 4 students total. If we don’t reach the minimum of two students by 3 days before the date of the first class we’ll refund your purchase in full. Read and understand our Class Policies here. This course is intended for adults. If your child is interested in learning we welcome you to organize a group of 2-4 kids and talk to us about scheduling a class for your small group. The minimum recommended age for kids to start learning to knit or crochet is around 8 years old but this can vary by child.
