Sashiko stitching

Sashiko, a Japanese form of embroidery well over a hundred years old, has exploded in popularity lately! Unsurprising as it’s both beautiful and functional.

The foundation of sashiko is the rhythm of stitching, using a special plate thimble made of metal. In this class Jocelyn will share how to use this thimble and an overview of sashiko as taught by Atsushi Futatsuya, a third generation master sashiko artist. (For more on Atsushi and opportunities to learn directly from this master, see his website and Instagram.)

Class plan: 2 to 2 ½ hours of active teaching followed by time for in-shop practice stitching and support.

Teacher: Jocelyn Songco
Class Size: min 2 and max 8
Class fee $65 and materials fee $20, or a total cost of $85.
