Sashiko, a Japanese form of embroidery well over a hundred years old, has exploded in popularity lately! Unsurprising as it’s both beautiful and functional.

The foundation of sashiko is the rhythm of stitching, using a special plate thimble made of metal. In this class Jocelyn will share how to use this thimble and an overview of sashiko as taught by Atsushi Futatsuya, a third generation master sashiko artist. Class fee $65 and materials fee $20, or a total cost of $85.

Materials provided: metal plate thimble, one skein (20 meters) of sashiko embroidery floss, one sashiko needle, and one 100% cotton or linen fat quarter.
