Machine Sew Fabric Buckets with Cal Patch

  • 21 W. Strand St. Kingston US (map)

Welcome Cal Patch!

Use it as a basket, a bag, a hold-all: once you make one fabric bucket, you'll come up with all kinds of uses for them! This is a great project to renew your sewing skills and bump them up a notch, and a fun way to use smaller pieces of textiles you've printed, dyed or collected. Cal will teach you how to piece fabrics together, sew a curved edge to a straight edge, make straps and pockets, and you'll leave with a beautiful reversible container.

Skill level required: Beginner Plus. Students must bring their own sewing machine and know the bare basics of how to use it: how to thread it and make a simple seam.

Please bring:

·       1/2 yard of outer fabric (medium weight woven cotton, like denim, canvas, quilting cotton -- can be smaller pieces that add up to about 1/2 yard)

·       1/2 yard of lining fabric (as above)

·       All-purpose thread to match

·       Ruler

·       Basic sewing kit: Scissors (for cutting fabric), pins + pincushion, seam ripper, chalk, tape measure

Yarn Farm Kingston will have basic sewing kits and a small selection of fabric available for purchase if needed!
